Announcements

October 26, 2009

The fourth grade is entering a nice rhythm as we are now accustomed to our
very hectic schedule. We continue to work on organizational strategies, note
taking, and other fundamental academic skills.
Additionally, students have begun to learn the states and capitals. We have
fun learning them using a song and video. Each week, we will introduce 7 - 9
new states and their capitals and students will be quizzed on them. We also
will be playing games and teaching other memorization strategies. Please
remind the students to study each night - practicing not only the state and
its capital, but the spelling, as well.
In science, we are learning about the scientific method, helping is to prepare
for the Science Fair.
We hope you are using Think Central, the online Storytown reading series.
Children have access to the text book, as well as any material we are working
on in class. Directions on how to log on to Think Central are located on the
page with the 'Storytown' link. If you need your child's username and
password, please email me.

Please do not send soda for lunch and limit sugary snacks.

Thank you!
