*The first grade will be going on their first field trip to The Miami
Children's Museum scheduled for January 13, 2010--More Details to follow soon!
The children have been working so hard and we are so proud them! In Ms.Wolk's
Language Arts group, we have been focusing on writing complete sentences as
we work on using proper puncuation as well as capitalization. Next week we
will continue to focus on parts of speech including nouns and pronouns. We
are also learning various reading comprehension skills. Please be sure you
are READING each night with your child for at least 15 minutes!
**Please also keep in mind that we begin morning journal writing promptly at
8:15. Please try and have your child arrive by 8:10 so he/she can unpack and
be ready to begin at 8:15.
In Ms. Wolk's Math group, just finished learning Greater Than and
Less Than. We have also been focusing on various problem solving skills
related to addition and subtraction. Next week we will be focusing on number
patterns ( counting by 2's 5's,10's etc)Please
continue to reinforce these skills at home with your child.
In Social Studies we are learning the symbols of our country (Liberty Bell,
Washington Monument, etc)
* The Third Grade team is sponsoring a wonderful project to help recycle
batteries. Please send in your batteries to be recycled! We are
collecting them in the classroom!
* The third grade team is also collecting Capri Sun Pouches for recycling.
Please support this project by sending in Capri Sun drinks or used pouches in
a ziplock bag!
*PLEASE SEND IN BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION! We have a container to collect them
in the classroom!
Please also send in 1 box of Clorox Wipes!! Thanks so much!
