Roz Averbook, Computer Specialist
Welcome to my web site, and welcome to our school.
Jacobson Sinai Academy has been my home for much of my adult life. I came here with a strong Montessori background. I began teaching first grade, was promoted to fourth grade, and finally, after attaining a Master’s Degree from Barry University in Computer Education, I began to teach “Computers”. We had two Apple IIe computers, locked inside a cabinet to be used by the entire school. We have certainly grown.
My two daughters attended school here, from ECE through graduation. Their memories of Sinai are warm and wonderful.
My primary goal as a teacher has always been to help our children enjoy learning, to reach a high and attainable goal, and to love being Jewish. I accomplish these goals using a variety of technology. From our new computer lab and new computers, to our Smartboard, with our web-based and server based software, we are able to bring the world into our classroom. We are in a sense, a classroom without walls. We Skype with Jewish children in Argentina. We “Cyber-pal” with students in Israel. From Google Earth to Dagesh Hebrew word processing, the world is our “oyster.” We are well into the 21st century.
We are fortunate to have parents who support our values and our goals. They continue to be generous with their time and their gifts. We are fortunate to be part of the Temple Sinai family, where we all belong and help each other to grow.
