Mrs. Latterner has lived in New York, Florida, and Mill Valley, California.
She has been teaching in Jewish Day Schools for more than 20 years. This will
be her twelveth year at JSA. For three years, until last year, she taught
Language Arts, Study Skills, and Social Studies in the Sinai Academy Middle
School.
Mrs. Latterner is married to Michael and lives in downtown Miami. Michael
has a grown son and daughter and two grandchildren. Mrs. Latterner has
two adult children,Stefanie and Josh, a son-in-law, Hue, and a delicious
granddaughter, Hannah, who will be two years old in November. Stefanie is 33
years old and works in the non-profit world with foundation professionals.
The organization is called, "The Jewish Funders' Network", . Hue recently
completed writing and directing his first feature film, "Saint John of Las
Vegas" starring Steve Bechemy and Sarah Silverman, which premiered in June
and can be seen in theaters in NY and LA in early November. They live in
Manhattan, NY, with Hannah, quite possibly the most adorable "almost two year
old" that ever lived!. Josh is 29 years old and is an avid surfer. He lives
in Venice Beach,California, and works for "MySpace" in creative marketing. As
you probably can tell, Mrs. Latterner cannot seem to stop talking about all
of them. In fact, she gets much pleasure from sharing little anecdotes about
them and photos with her students.
If you ask Mrs. Latterner what is most important in her life, she would
quickly say, "my family". She spent most of her summer vacation traveling to
see and spend time with her "kids". In addition to her family, Mrs. Latterner
loves to cook , eat great food, spend time with close
friends, and read, especially non fiction and fashion magazines. This summer,
she enjoyed hiking in Colorado and actually, left her high heels at home! Her
work as a teacher in a Day School is very meaningful to her. Mrs. Latterner
says that Language Arts (writing skills) and Derech Eretz are "near and dear"
to her heart. She experiences great satisfaction from the positive growth she
witnesses in her students from August through early June. She has taught every
grade from K-8 and enjoyed them all. Mrs. Latterner is excited to be back in
the Lower School teaching Fifth Grade for the second year.
My mission for the class is to help foster the intellectual and emotional
growth and independence of each individual student, both secularly and
judaically, in a nurturing and caring environment in order that each becomes
a responsible, reliable, and well adapted young adult.
