Essay:
Parents: Please check your child's agenda every day for teacher notes and
home- learning assignment. Every Monday the home-learning will be posted for
the entire week. There should be no reason for students to miss an
assignment.
Remember the papers you signed the first week stipulate that after three
home-learning assignment misses they WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND FIELD TRIPS
or
other "fun" learning activities. They are a privilege not a right. This is
not
to be punitive rather it is to instill a sense of responsibility and
accountability in them and prepare them for 5th grade and middle school.
As I am the "traveling" Teacher for Math/Science/Social Studies I cannot list
the home-learning assignments for those classes. However, below is the
reading/language arts home-learning which IS subject to change and is not
always updated immediately.
Math Multiplication quiz (1 grade)
Students should be going over and studying their notes daily from L.A.
Reading/Langugae Arts Notes: From Board
Narrative essay Notes:
Key words = Tell, Story
Its a story
Its not a list of events
It has 3 paragraphs with 10 sentences in each
- beg. middle, end
Dialogue is a conversation between two characters in the story.
In order to use it, you must use quotation marks.
Example: " Go to bed now," my father told me.
"I am looking for my paperss," Elizabeth explained.
Maria Told me " go to the park."
Setting: Where a story takes "place" You write this After your Grabber.
You need to describe the way the place looks. To do this describe up,
eye level, side to side down. That is to say you need to describe all around
you.
As I looked around I saw a shinny star the the sky high above me. In front
of me I saw an ivory unicorn with a long black horn. Below the sky I saw the
emerald slimmy grass. To my left I saw a four headed dragon raging with
blazzing fire. The mahogany trees were scorched.
Evertime you start a new paragrpah you have to indent ..... 5 spaces
Grammer Skills!
There are four types of Sentences
1)Statement-ends with a period, tells something
2)Question-ends with a question mark- asks something
3)Exclamation-ends with an exclamation sentence-shows strong
feelings/emotions
4) Commands-ends with exclamation or period, tells someone to do something
In EVERY sentence there is a subject and a predicate.
The subject is the "who" or the "what" that the sentence is about.
The predicate starts with the action word/verb in the sentence and goes till
the END of the sentence.
Example: The purple fat and smelly dog ate my homework last night.
In the sentence above "dog" is the simple subject and "ate" is the
predicate."
The complex subject is "The purple fat and smelly dog" and "ate my homework
last night." is the complex predicate.
