Students in my/Mrs.Gaitan's class earn their grades. There are often oral
participation grades given, quizzes, tests, and class work. Grades are pulled
from a variety of assignments. After 3 missed home-learning assignments
students are exempt from field trips. Many students ALREADY as of this fourth
week of school have are already exempt.
Grading Policy: This is approved by Miami Dade County Public School Systems:
A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%
C = 70-79%
D = 60-69%
F = 0-59%

Accelerated Reader is a Vital part of the curriculum at Kendale Lakes.
During the course of each semester students read books at their independant
and indivudal reading level and then take tests earning points. Each student
in my class is REQUIRED to earn a minimum of 1 point per week for the first
semester. After that 2 points per week will be REQUIRED during the 2nd,3rd
and 4th semesters.
Each test that they take based on that book can earn them from .25 points to
2 points depending on the difficulty level and the length of the book.

FIELD TRIP POLICY:
During the school year students will be involved in various learning
activities. Field trips will be an opportunity for students to extend
learning outside of the classroom enviroment. Since field trips are not a
requirement, but a PRIVILEGE, there are certain criteria that a student must
meet in order to participate.The following are specific crietria:
-A "C" average or above in CONDUCT
-They demonstrate appropriate behavior in ALL subjects
-They put forth their maximum EFFORT in ALL subjects(completeing and
returning homework assignments as well as class assignments)
-They have satisfactory progress reports which show their continued efforts
both in academics and behavior.
- They have consistantly been in school and on time (understanding that
there are exceptions for DOCUMENTED illness and family emergenices.)
Students will not be allowed to attend if :
1: They have a below C "average" in conduct
2: They exhibit continous disruptive behavior in any subject (documented)
3: They have a 3 in EFFORT in ANY subject
4: They have an unsatisfactory in any progress report due to incomplete
homework (documented), assignments (documented),poor attendance, repetitive
tardiness.
If you are interested in attending any field trips, you must have a
volunteer or emplyee # on file. Please check with front office to verify
this.
