According to state regulations, all grades reflecting student
performance will be averaged quarterly and submitted as a progress or report
card document. If your son or daughter begins to display difficulty in
academic work or with behavior, I will contact you. Typically, this means a
reflection of a low C or below. (Percentage breakdown... 100-90=A;
89-80=B; 79-70=C; 69-60=D 59 and below=F). The categories used
to weigh your child's work are: Classwork = 50%, Tests= 50%, Home Learning =
effort grade.
When a student is absent, he/she may make up missing assignments equal
to the number of days absent with an excused absence. In my grade book, your
son or daughter will be EXC (Excused) from the assignment until it is turned
in. If work was assigned on a day your child wasn't absent, but the absences
began thereafter, he/she must turn in work upon their return to school. In my
grade book, this will appear as 'Z' or missing. Missing assignments = "F" at
the end of two weeks. If, on computerized print outs, you notice "Z",on any
given assignment, this means your son or daughter received a
"0" points for the work; the work was incomplete.
Furthermore, please use the Agenda Binder to communicate concerns.
