The Scarlet Letter TRACKING THREADS>
*You will select one of the following topics. As you read the novel, you
will pay special attention to the way Hawthorne presents this topic. Look for
many of these at various parts of the story. Listen to our beginning
discussions in class to get some ideas about the rest of the book. The
tracking threads will be presented at crucial points as we go along, so they
must be on my laptop. SIGN UP & START TRACKING.
*You will make TRACKING THREADS (on a COMPUTER DOCUMENT that you can display)
about your topic. (You also could create a Power Point). You should include:
-Thesis statement (look at what can be inferred from the events)--may be more
than one item if you are taking 2 categories
-A minimum of six supporting quotes, explained (a minimum of three each if
you're covering 2 topics) **It's good to go over minimum requirements!
-At least one creative visual appropriate to your thesis (the more visuals,
the better the students will remember your points)
*You will "discuss" the novel through these documents. By the time each of
you has shared your information with the class we should have covered the
important aspects of the novel.
PERIODS WILL SIGN UP ACCORDING TO THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS. Since 6th
period only has 14 people, everyone will have to double up (categories
between the double lines will serve as ONE category).
Period 4 will have 4 categories with double-ups (numbers between the
double lines), and period 5 will have 5.
Period 7, with 23 people, will take each numbered category separately, with 2
people dividing up SYNTAX, #22.
