On May 23rd this spring, our violin and advanced recorder students took a field trip to the Super Sensitive Strings Factory on Apex Rd in Sarasota where they received a fantastic tour and learned not only about the processes of making violin and guitar strings and brass & woodwind moutpieces, but also learned about world trade. We thank the Sarasota Orchestra for donating the FUNds for the trip. Our chorus students enjoyed a party after school on the same day.
In 2006 and 2008 Lakeview's students performed at DISNEY WORLD. Lakeview's CHORUS, RECORDER AND VIOLIN ENSEMBLES performed for audiences at The Magic Kingdom during Magic Music Days. Students and their families traveled by bus to Orlando, then they sang, danced and played instruments on stage, and spent the rest of the day enjoying the theme parks. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen and congratulations to everyone who participated! The children were terrific little performers, the chaperons were awesome, and the bus drivers were very careful and patient.
Last spring we celebrated our successes by going on a field trip to Bayside Park for the Embracing Our Differences exhibit and to The Ringling Museum of Art for the Jackson Biggers exhibit. We had our lunch by the bay and continued to enjoy some of the many amazing gifts Sarasota has to offer. A great time was had by all ! We thank the Sarasota Arts and Cultural Alliance, the Patterson Foundation and The Education Foundation for their support in creating these wonderful opportunities for our children.
