Our 2nd grade field trip was awesome! We had a blast sailing the
Emerald Coast together aboard the Southern Star boat in Destin, Florida! The
weather turned out to be just perfect! We saw tons of dolphins and even drove
the boat! Thank you to ALL parents who joined us for the day. I hope you
enjoy the slide show! What a special way to end
our school year together!
Field Day 2009 was so much fun! Mrs. Vensko was very proud of her
class for being good sports and working together as a TEAM!! We even won our
trophy back for Tug-O-War! Thanks to all parents for coming to support our
class! GO GREEN!!!!
We are Authors in Action in 2nd Grade during our Writers' Workshop
daily. Students recently took a BARE BOOK home to decorate and personalize
with the help from their family. Each book will soon be filled with creative
stories written by these young authors! Enjoy the pictures!
Here are some pictures taken of us during the Daily 5. At this
time, Mrs. Vensko works with small groups of readers while all other students
work independently or with a partner around the room on our DAILY 5 literacy
tasks: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Listen to Reading, or Work
on Writing. We LOVE the Daily 5 because we practice what good readers and
writers do!

Here are pictures taken of us during our daily MATH STATIONS. We
work with our math buddies on these stations after completing our math
seatwork. We are lucky to have so many wonderful math games and activities

Laurel Hill School in Laurel Hill, Florida! Mrs. Vensko LOVES her class!
We celebrated the 100th Day of School in style by making fruit
loop necklaces! It was a great day!! Check out the pictures below!
A very special teacher at Laurel Hill School, Mrs. Riley,
recently retired. She was our Title I teacher. The Elementary school at
Laurel Hill surprised her with a farewell reception. Every single student
created a special farewell card for her. We will miss you more than you
know Mrs. Riley! Thank you for everything you have done for Laurel Hill

Here are some pictures from Halloween. We learned so
much about pumpkins as plants! Pumpkin math and science is so much fun! On
Friday, the students had the option to dress up as a favorite book
character. Mrs. Vensko was Gooney Bird Greene! Thank you to all parents for
sending in the delicious Halloween treats! They were yummy! We had a
wonderful day together! Enjoy the pictures below!
We learned about fire safety last week. It was fun
taking a picture with Sparky! We learned lots of interesting facts about
fire fighters and we even toured the Gulf Life Flight! We learned that
normally it would take us over an hour to get from Laurel Hill to Pensacola,
but on the Gulf Flight, it would take only 20 minutes! Enjoy the pictures!
