Accelerated Math

A.Math assignment record/schedule is now posted on TeacherEase for Quarter
IV.Please note the following A.Math guidelines:

•Children have the opportunity to work on A.Math daily from 7:45 – 8:00 am,
every Monday for 20 minutes (5th grade) or Tuesday for 25 minutes (4th grade)
during the school day, and after they complete any science or math
classwork/tests.

•Children are also encouraged to take Practice assignments home to complete
as homework. The requirement for Q IV is: two practices and 1 test. This
requirement is less than was required in Quarters I and II,and II due to the
problems with the A Math program. The minimum is now 3, but the students are
encouraged to take as many A Math practices/tests as they can.

•Five points will be taken off their homework grade if the assignment is not
turned in by the designated due date. The due dates for Quarter IV are:

1. April 3
2. May 3
3. May 16
(minimum requirement for Quarter IV)

August 2012 Welcome to Accelerated Math in 4th and 5th grades! The
Accelerated Math (AM) program is very similar to the Accelerated Reading (AR)
program. Assignments are computer-generated and are tailored to your child's
skill level. Each fourth grade student is expected to complete four
practices and one test each quarter. Each fifth grade student is expected to
complete at least four practices and one test each quarter. This is the fifth
grade minimum requirement. Failure to complete this requirement will result
in an IA on the report card or Progress Report which will prevent the student
from making honor roll.

Practices are started at school and may be finished at home if not completed
at school. The tests must be taken at school.
