Week of February 14th-18th
We had an exciting week learning about Dinosaurs. The children had a lot of fun and a lot of sugar at our Valentine's Day Party on Monday. We had fun decorating our boxes, playing "Guess the Valentine" and passing out all our Valentine treats and cards. The children had so much fun putting their cards in each others boxes. They are doing a great job recognizing their friends names. We started learning about the different dinosaurs and played a "What's Missing" dinosaur game. Everyone had fun trying to figure out which dinosaur was taken away. Half of the class started making their "cerealosaurus" and the rest will finish it on Monday. We will continue with our Dinosaur theme next week because there is too much to cover.
In Phonics, the children learned the sounds f and l. We started reading a BOB book in class and Ms. Brandy and I worked with everyone on a 1 on 1 basis so we can help them with their CVC words and their "tricky" words.
There is no school on Monday so have a great long weekend!
Ms. Christine
Reminder: February 17, 2011
Please remember to bring in your child’s “mini sound books” tomorrow so we can add the new letters in. We have less than half the books back so please make sure to put them in your child’s bag tonight. We send home the books every Friday and we would like them back on Monday. You may keep everything else in the envelope at home. This helps us check each student individually to see if they understand their phonics J
*We are in need of wet wipes and glue sticks. If you have any lying around at home or if you grab some from the dollar store next time you are there, it would be greatly appreciated. The kids love doing art with the glue sticks. It has gotten pretty dusty outside so the children come back to the classroom pretty dirty and the wet wipes come in handy after recess.
Thank you!!!

Volunteers for the Winter Fun Day
We are looking for 4 volunteers to participate in our winter fun day this Friday. We need parents to help out in one of our many stations we have set up for the kids. We will be doing our fun day with PreK 3 and Kindergarten from 9:30 until around 11:30. We have a lot of fun things planned like snow cones, luge, hockey, snowball fight etc.
Let me know by Thursday if you can help out. It will be on a first come first serve basis since we only have enough room for 4 parents so let me know ASAP.
Ms. Christine and Ms. Brandy
Rock and Roast T-Shirts
Café Sole has donated t-shirts for all the children. Every child gets 1 Rock and Roast t-shirt and they can wear them as part of their school uniform. This is a good way to advertise this big fundraiser and the shirts are a lot of fun to wear
Exciting School Days to Come
We have a lot of fun and exciting plans for the classroom in the next several weeks to come. Here is a list of the fun activities we will be doing:
Friday January 28th: Winter Fun Day
We will be having a fun winter festival in the school with the PreK 3 and Kindergarten class. We are asking parents to donate any tube socks (for snowballs) and shaving cream (for playing in the snow). We are also looking for any surgical booties (for our ice skating). If you can bring in any of these items, it would be greatly appreciated.
Tuesday February 1st : Pajama Day
It is Catholic Schools Week this week so we are having our annual pajama day on this Tuesday. Children can wear there pajamas to school and bring their favorite sleep toy (teddy bears etc) and their favorite bed time stories. They are also welcome to bring a blanket and pillow. If you don’t want your child in their pj’s all day, you are welcome to bring a change of clothes for them to change into.

Monday February 7th : 100th Day Party
Every day we have been counting down to our 100th day of school. The children are learning how to recognize numbers, count by 1’s , by 5’s and by 10’s. On this day, we are asking parents to bring in 100 pieces of something that you and your child have counted out the night before. We are looking for things like 100 pretzels, mini ritz, m&m’s etc. We will be making a big party mix with our 100 items. The children are so excited for this day.
Monday February 14th : Valentine’s Day Party
We will be having a party this day. I will send home a class list for all the parents so your child can bring in Valentine’s to share with their friends. You are also welcome to bring in treats and juice. We will be playing some fun games and the children will continue with our “sharing is caring” motto.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Our door is always open.
Ms. Christine and Ms. Brandy
I just wanted to let everyone know that I sent home the mini sound books today. We worked on the letter "e". Please keep the books home until after the break and practice with your children. You can continue to practice sounding out simple CVC words. When we come back in January, our main focus will be back to phonics and learning how to read

*Don't forget to bring home all your child's Christmas artwork to hang up over the holidays!! *
Happy Holidays
Christine
Christmas Concert Monday, December 13th
Have your children in the classroom at 5:30 so we can get their costumes ready. The concert starts at 6:00 in the church so this should give you plenty of time to find a good seat or standing spot. After PreK performs, they can go with their parents. Make sure you find your children at the back of the church or outside the doors after they perform. You are welcome to stay and watch the rest of the classes showcase their Christmas talent.
Happy Holidays!!
Ms. Christine and Ms. Katie
Please Remember to bring in your items for the elderly snack packs. We are trying to reach for a goal of 100 packs but so far we are only 1/4 to our goal. Spread the word that we need everything in by Friday.
Thank you!!
Ms. Christine

tin sat it at
pin tip in pan
ant sit pat nap
Remember: Keep it fun!!
Children who are pressured into learning will shut down and won’t want to learn anymore.
Happy Friday J
Ms. Christine
Field Trip:
Don't forget to bring in the field trip permission slips and the 3.00 dollars for transportation. We want to get everyone's permission slips before the Thanksgiving holidays.
Thank you!!
Friday Update
We had a fun week this week, learning about nutrition and exercise. Our 7th Grade buddies stopped by the class this afternoon to help our class with their nutrition booklets. These are being sent home today so take a couple minutes to look through them with your children. Look out for some photos!!!
If you are wondering why your children's lunchboxes were sent home full today, it is because everyone helped to make crepes for lunch. The children picked out what they wanted inside and rolled their own crepes to eat. We had bananas and peanut butter, ham, cheese and turkey. Most of the children ate the whole thing but a couple liked what was on the inside of the crepe more than the crepe itself. I was proud of everyone for trying them
Ms. Katie taught Religion today and the children learned all about Noah's Ark. They did a fun activity where they drew 2 of their favorite animals on their very own ark.
Homework: I have sent home a matching game to play with your children. Please don't feel like you have to force them to sit down and do this work. I want learning to continue to be fun! We will be going over it in class on Monday when we play our own game in circle. The game is a review because we have finished our first 6 letter sounds (s,a,t,i,p,n). I will send the mini sound books home again next Friday with our 2 new sounds.
Have a great weekend,
Ms. Christine
Wednesday: Exercise Day
We spent most of the day outside today enjoying the sunshine. The children learned about exercise and how if you do daily exercise, it will make you strong and healthy. They practiced their jumping jacks, sit ups, push ups, stretches, running on the spot and crab walk. The children were divided into 2 teams (red and purple) and they practiced their relay races. After all that, we enjoyed a fun game of soccer.
Enjoy your day off tomorrow. Maybe we will run into each other at the parade!!!
See you on Friday
Ms. Christine
NUTRITION WEEK
We are discussing nutrition and exercise this week and the children are having fun learning about healthy living. On Wednesday, please dress your children in shorts, t-shirt and sneakers because we will be learning about exercise and we will be spending a lot of time outside doing various activities. On Friday, we won’t be ordering pizza. Instead, we will be making our own sweet and savory crepes while we learn about the 4 food groups. We will use the pizza money to purchase the items needed for our crepes. Please bring in $1 by Wednesday, like usual, so we can get everything we need.
Thank you!!
Ms. Christine and Ms. Katie
REMINDER:
PICTURE DAY is tomorrow!! Don’t forget your picture money!
Please make sure you pack only healthy lunches and snacks for your child. No candy, chocolate or potato chips are allowed in PreK 4. \
As of tomorrow, we are banning SILLY BANDS in our classroom. They are causing a lot of distraction and arguments so we are no longer allowing them.
Thank you to Rebeka and Christian’s family for sponsoring our classroom. We will hopefully purchase some new toys for the children soon with this money.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Ms. Christine and Ms. Katie
November is Here!!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a fun filled Halloween. We have made slight changes to our theme and we will be doing NUTRITION and EXERCISE for the next 2 weeks. We have a lot of fun learning activities for this theme and the children are going to learn alot.
After our fun and spooky week, we will be returning to our "Sound Books" this week and I will send them home on Friday. We are learning "P" and "N" this week so if you get a chance, practice at home!!! I sent home the white envelopes today because things were just too hectic on Thursday.
Be on the lookout for an email from me with photos from the Pumpkin Patch and Halloween Party.
It is Orielle's last day tomorrow and we will all miss her very much. We wish her and her family all the best on their new adventure!!!
Happy Monday,
Ms. Christine
OOPS!!! Something spooky was happening to my computer and I managed to delete all my information on here...SORRY :(
Just a Reminder: Don't forget about the field trip tomorrow..make sure you pack a lunch for your child.
Thursday is our halloween party so dress your children up in all their cute costumes. Bring a change of clothes so they can keep their costumes as clean as possible for trick or treating.
We are still on the lookout for milk or juice cartons. If you have any, bring them in because I need about 15 more for our trick or treat containers.
Thank you,
Christine
