I. Reading - extra credit can be earned each grading period for turning in Book Report.
     First Marking Period: Fiction Book - information will be sent home Monday October 3rd. The book report will be do in by Friday November 4th.
   Second Marking Period: Non-fiction book due in Friday 1/27
   Second Marking Period: Biography book due in Thursday 2/23
   Third Marking Period: Multicultural book due in Friday 5/11
  
 II. Math: Sunshine Math Problem Solving Bi-Weekly Worksheet Handed out every other  Tuesday and due 
      in on the following Monday  - Show your work or explain your reasoning for your answer on each question.             Extra Credit points are awarded by the number of stars for each question where you have correctly shown your       work or  explained your reasoning.
            
III. Writing - up to 100 extra credit points can be earned each grading period for writing an essay.
      First marking Pedriod: Due in by Friday November 18th
      Topic: "Why It Is Important to Stay Smoke Free" refer to The Writer's Express Book p. 72-77 for an Essay                            Writing Plan. 
      Second Marking Period: Fictional Story due 12/15
      Second Marking Period: Persuasive Writing - Why Washington's and Lincoln's Birthdays should be a federal             holiday.
      Third Marking Period: Poetry Contest Poem due in Friday 4/27

V. Science: -  Investigation Maps Choose one:
First marking Period:
1) Do the pulses at the extremities of the body beat at the same rate (beats per minutes) as the ones closer to the heart?
2) Does the temperature affect the rate in which materials dissolve?
