Optional Project
If you did not do your science project or you want to improve your Science
Project grade, Here there is an opportunity for you.
You are able to choose one of the following science projects and it will help
you to improve your grade if you complete properly all the required work.
1. Read carefully the list of proposed projects. You can research information
regarding a particular project.
2. Choose a project.
3. Write a science lab report using the format assigned by your teacher.The
lab report includes title, background information,hypothesis, variables, data
table, graphs,properly label of variables, analysis, and a three-paragraphs
conclusion using the assigned format.
The lab report has to be typed, and neat. A project without the required
conclusion will not be accepted.
4. Develop a model:Design and build the model.
5. The project is due from 1/3/11 to 1/9/2012. No extensions will be granted
under any circumstance. The last day to turn in a complete project is
1/9/2012. This is an optional project.
6. This is an individual project,this is NOT a group project. Group projects
are not going to be accepted.
If you did not do your science project by October 2011 the highest grade you
could have in this proposed project is a "B" , but if you want to improve your
grade for the science project you turned in by October 2011, your highest
grade could be an "A" based on the quality of your project.
This project is 20% of your second marking period grade in science.

October 4 2011
Last day to collect your late preliminary plan for the science project is
Thursday, October 20, 2011. Ms. Vega will not collect your science project
preliminary plan after this date. Students had more than a month to turn in
this assignment on time. The due date for the final science project (Your
board, and written report)is October 25 or 26.
The last day Ms. Vega will collect late assignments other than science
project preliminary plan for the first marking
period is the week of 10/17/11-10/21/11 Please bring each late assignment
with a late assignment letter.
Students who are turning in late assignments need to bring a letter
signed by parents and themselves stating why the assignment is late. No late
assignments are going to be accepted without this letter. Ms. Vega has forms
available in the classroom or parents can write the letter explaining the
reason why the assignment was late as well as students explain their
reasons.Please include your parents contact number in the letter for records.

All classes
The science syllabus is due the first week of school (August 22-26).
All students must have the required binder or composition book by Monday,
September 26, 2011. Bell Ringers, notes, essential questions, and handouts
must be presented in the assigned composition book in order to have a grade.
All required information for the science project can be found on this
web site under handouts or links.
For our students convenience, project boards are sold at school in room
1329.The cost of the board is $7.00
- Baseline test will be administered on September 6th, and 7th, 2011 for all
students.Participation is very important and is part of your grade.
- Be prepare for the Safety in the lab and science contract quiz ( week of
August 30-September 1, 2011).
- Books will be distributed to students the week of ( September 26- September
29, 2011).
- Science articles are due the second week of September, the last
day that the class meet.
- Science contract is due this week (August 29th - September 1st, 2011)
