Homework

Your child needs to copy spelling words and vocabulary words on a weekly
basis. Daily assignments must also be written into the agenda and the agenda
needs to be checked and signed DAILY by the parent. The teacher checks the
agenda EVERY morning and goes over and/or collects homework right away. The
agenda is provided by the P.T.A. Please join the P.T.A. at the beginning of
the school year.

Your child will usually have to...

study for a Spelling Test given each Friday.
review what the vocabulary words mean (tested as well).
review the grammar skill(s) of the week (tested as well).
fill out the reading record log on a daily basis
complete a book report over the weekend and/or complete a monthly book
report/project.
read 30 minutes DAILY (AR books strongly encouraged to meet quarterly goals)

Your child will take home a home learning sheet for the first and second
quarters. This will verify what is written in his or her agenda and give the
parents a clearer view of the typical daily homework assignments in Reading
and Language Arts.

Please stress the importance of writing everything down correctly in the
agenda. Students will begin writing their homework and words right away into
their agendas. Starting in the THIRD quarter, he or she will NO LONGER be
receiving the daily homework on the homelearning sheet. The students are
expected to show responsibility and copy the homework given daily into their
agendas.

Thank you for your support in all that we do this school year.
