Dear _______________________________,
Catholic doctrine is based on four pillars of our beliefs: our worship, how we live, and how we pray. Your life should include responding to the Gospel message of service to others. This is why the requirement for community service hours exists in 8th grade.
You are required to earn five service hours per quarter for a total of twenty hours for the school year. They may be done here at school, in your parish, or in the community. If you do your service here at school, fill out the Christian Service Hours form and have the supervising teacher(s) sign it. If you do your service away from the school, I need a letter using the organization’s letterhead stating how many hours you earned and when. Your hours count as 5% of your Christian Formation grade.
If you have already begun accumulating your hours, please ask the supervisor at each location to write a letter using the organization’s letterhead stating how many hours you earned and when.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hutek (8th Grade Christian Formation)
