If my child misses a test, what is the protocol?

I do not make up times tables, vocabulary or spelling tests. Chapter tests
such as reading, math, social studies, and science are made up on Fridays.
If your child returns to school on a Friday, their test will be made up on
Monday.

Why haven't I seen papers being returned and brought home?

There are a number of answers to this question.
1. After papers are graded and returned, students should place them in their
take home folder and bring them home. It is not my responsibility to put
these papers in their folder. I do, however, have the students on Fridays
clean out their desks and take home ALL papers from their desks.
Look for those missing papers on Friday afternoon.
2. I keep some papers depending on their grade or quality of work. If I feel
it is important to keep a paper whether good or bad, I will inform the
student. AND to be fair to you, the parent, you are always more than welcome
to set up an appointment and view your child's work folder at school.
3. Sometimes I am a bit overwhelmed, because I do grade ALL your child's
work. So... it is partially my fault for not returning papers ASAP. However,
I make it a point to return tests within two days.

How do I know if my child is doing okay in class?

You are always more than welcome to set up an appointment to talk to me to
discuss your child's academics. If your child is failing a subject, I will
send home an interim to inform you.
