In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching
show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that can not be
condemned...Titus 2:7 NIV
I have always wanted to be a teacher.
I graduated in May 1975 from Bethune Cookman College with a B.S. in
Elementary Education. I began teaching in 1975 at R.R. Moton Elementary
teaching 5th and 6th grade Math. I taught 1st grade at Richmond Elementary
in the Spring of 1978. I began teaching at Pinecrest Elementary in October
1978. I taught 2nd grade from 1978-2000. I began teaching first grade in
August 2000.
After teaching for over 20 years I returned to college and earned a Masters
Degree in Reading at Barry University. My greatest joy was when my peers
selected me as Teacher of the Year in 1999.
I see teaching as my ministry. I try to make my students more
aware of the world around them and open their eyes to the many cultures in
our society. I try to offer them an opportunity to explore what the world
is really like and how they can make a difference in their communities by
being more understanding of one another.
The mission for the class is for each student to BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE.
To become a community of readers and problem solvers. To learn to respect
each other, to work together, and to encourage each other.
