DOREEN LEWIS

I began teaching at Rasmussen College in June 2007, having previously taught at St. Leo University. Courses I teach (when offered): * Introduction to Psychology * Introduction to Sociology * Social Problems * Work & Family Balance * Current Affairs

I have a varied work experience with 15 years in Marketing and Public Relations in both the private and public sectors. In addition to teaching, currently I also work as a marketing consultant. My educational background includes a doctorate in General Psychology from Capella University (PhD expected 2009), a Master of Science in Management (NLU, 1996), and a Bachelor of Arts of Human Services (Eckerd College, 1986). I write romantic fiction as a hobby and am a published book author. I desire to write academic journal articles and non-fiction self-help books on relationships.

I've lived in Florida most of my life, originally from Queens, NY. I have two teenagers, 19 and 16. My style of teaching is participative--with a strongly held belief that students learn as much from each other as from books and lectures. My classes tend to be lively and engaging with much active discussion and a blend of lecture, group work and individual projects. If you're a student new to one of my classes, you can count on being held responsible as I will demand your very best. I am passionate about teaching and Rasmussen College and very much enjoy working with college students.
