Attendance
Please note that school policy is that if a child comes any later than 8:20
they are tardy and have to be checked in at the office located in the Lyall
Center. The student handbook that you received in the beginning of the year
states the following: "Elementary students should arrive between 7:45 and
8:20 AM. Elementary students arriving after 8:20 AM are considered tardy.
Elementary students arriving between 7:45-8:00 AM will remain in the hallway
with the supervising teacher until 8:00 AM...Students who arrive late to
school must obtain a Tardy Slip from the office before going to class..." I
open the classroom door at 8:00 AM for the children - we unpack our bags and
get ready for class as well as do morning work, we then go out to the flag
pole to pray and pledge at 8:20 AM. Upon returning to the classroom we often
begin immediately with calendar, so it's important for the flow of our day
that we get started on time.
DRESS CODE
Parents,
I have begun to notice that some of the children are in dress code
violation. Please refer to your handbook for the dress code - some of the
violations that I have been most frequently noticing are:
1. All students must have a collared shirt on (logo not required, but it is
recommended - all shirts must be navy, hunter green, burgundy or white. On
Fridays students are permitted to wear Booster Club Lion Wear. Students
MUST have shirts tucked in at all times. During the school day I give
reminders, but please ensure that your child has their shirt tucked in upon
entering in the morning.
2. All student must wear khaki or navy pants/skirts/skorts/shorts - NO BLUE
JEANS are permitted (not even on Friday) students are also prohibited from
wearing "cargo" style bottoms - they should be the traditional uniform style
with no sewn on pockets. No baggies or low hip riders are allowed.
3. Students must wear belts that are navy, brown, black or khaki if the
pants, skirt, skort or shorts have belt loops.
4. Socks are to be white only and shoes must be dress or sneakers - all
shoes must be completely enclosed.
Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.
