Extra Credit

You may earn NO MORE THAN thirty-six points of extra credit per nine weeks. 
The extra credit assignments change weekly. You may also go to my FAVORITE 
WEBSITES page where you can earn extra credit for completing various online 
activities.
Here are a few examples of extra credit assignments which will not change:
1. Read more than 3 1oo-page books per nine weeks (3 points per book up to 
12 points).
2. Exceed your Accelerated Reader goal: 1 point per A.R. point up to 12 
points. See A.R. page for reminders.
3.(Parents) Attend parent days, Ms. Seaman's Monthly Open House, Back to 
School Night, PTSA, EESAC- 4 points each meeting.
4. Join the PTSA- 4 points (one time only).
5. Sell four or more items for the PTSA sale when they have a sale. Show 
your list to Ms. Seaman for an extra credit A.
6. Enter an essay contest- 12 points plus a prize if you win. You will also 
earn 4 more points if you win.
7. Donate at least 4, age-appropriate books in good condition to our class 
lending library-4 points maximum per nine weeks.
8. Donate clothing or food to various school drives (to be announced)-4 
items=4 points maximum per nine weeks.
9. Complete assignments from my website. Print them out please. 
10. Attend a school activity or Saturday Academy (2 points per activity or 
Saturday).
11. Earn one A (4 points) for each level you achieve on the Reading section 
of FCAT in March (up to 20 points for a level 5).
13. Work on Riverdeep.com (soon to be Destination Success) and show sections 
to Ms. Seaman for language arts FCAT practice(4 points per section).
14. Practice essay writing on ParagraphPunch.com- 4 points per five-paragraph 
essay, which 
you must print out and show to Ms. Seaman.
15. Show Ms. Seaman a public library card in your name (4 points- one time 
per year).
16.You can earn an extra credit A for practicing  for FCAT online. Check the 
FAVORITE WEBSITES page for great websites. (See FCATMentor.com.)
17. Be the first to complete the Gotcha! or BRAIN STRAIN  correctly for one 
point per time.
18. " Real-World Vocabulary" If you see a vocabulary word we are studying in 
class in something you are reading outside of class, bring that reading to 
class and show it to Ms. Seaman. You will receive one point each time you do 
this.
19. Create a " Book Review" by writing at least one  paragraph about a book 
you like (One A).See the FAVORITE WEBSITES for guidance.
20. Take a grammar quiz and pass it. Print out results (One A). Check 
FAVORITE WEBSITES for the URL.
21.Show improvement on posttests as contrasted with pretests (point for point 
or one A for complete levels.)
