100th Day of
School!!!!
Our 100th day of school
will be January 31st, 2009. We have lots of way cool things happening that
day. Take a look at some of our activities to celebrate the fact that we have
been in 1st grade for 100 days.
10 x 10 Snack
We will be making a
traditional 100th day snack. Each child will count 10 each of 10 different
goodies to place in their bowl. The items will include: M&M’s, pretzels,
mini-marshmallows, cheese crackers, chocolate chips, Cheerio cereal, peanuts,
raisins, candy hearts, and gummy fruits.
100 Candy Valentine
Hearts
We will be using candy
conversation hearts as one of our yummy math activities. Each group or partner
team will have a baggie containing 100 candy hearts. They will sort their
hearts by color, then complete a graph, followed by questions to answer using
their data. If you're interested in seeing these files, click on the links.

Connecting Cube Trains
We will predict how long
a train of connecting cubes will measure. After predicting, we will take out
our connecting cubes, make our trains in teams of 3-4 and measure.
100 Seconds
We’ll
stay silent for 100 seconds! Well…we’ll try☺
If I Had 100...
We're going to be
writing about what we would do with 100 of something.First, we'll brainstorm
ideas such as 100 dollars, 100 legs, 100 books, 100 dogs, etc. Then we'll each
write about what we would do with are 100 items. This will be published into a
book to put in our classroom library. I'll try to post here to share with
everyone.

100th Day Bottles
For a home connection, we
are making 100th day bottles. The children will put 100 of something that
could fit into a clean, empty water or soda bottle. They will write clues of
what is in the bottle, without telling us. We'll make our guesses using their
clues. The bottles will be brought to school in a brown, paper bag. Each child
is completing a page for our class book using this form. This idea is not
original to me. I got this great idea from this site. 100th
