Hooray for Author
Studies!
I have found that a favorite way for children to
become immersed with reading and language arts is through author studies.
Children are able to explore a variety of genres from fantasy to non-fiction.
It allows children the opportunity to interact with texts in a variety of
ways. They make connection from text-to-text, and text-to-self. They learn to
view authors as ìreal peopleî not just names on a title page of a book. The
hard part is choosing which to use as a focus because there are so many
wonderful authors in childrenís literature.
