General Information & Policy Statement
Drop-off / Pick-up: Camp will begin at 7:00 AM and will end at 6:00 PM. All parents must sign their child in and out each day. Only the people listed on the registration form may sign their child out. All pick up people should be prepared to show a picture ID each day of camp.
Lunch and Snacks: Your child needs to bring a lunch and 2 cold drinks for camp each day. Please do not provide foods that can easily spoil, as we do not have adequate refrigerator space available for storage. We will provide a morning and afternoon snack with juice each day. Please write any food allergies your child may have on the registration form.
Storage: Please have your child bring a crate with his/her name on it for the duration of the camp. This will be used to store their belongings. You may purchase a milk crate (12x12x12) at almost any discount store. Please label everything your child brings to camp. The children will be responsible for their own belongings at camp and on field trips. The camp is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
Swimming: The children will swim every Tuesday at the Jack Mclean pool. There will be Red Cross certified lifeguards on duty and our regular staff members will be available to assist children. Life jackets will be provided to children who do not pass the swim test. All children, however, will be required to wear life jackets on all swimming activities not held at either pool regardless of swimming ability.
Field Trips: Please note the arrival and departure times for all trips as they vary each week. Please notice that some of the trips require long distances on the bus. Your child may wish to bring something to play with or a book to read to help pass the time. Please remember that this camp is not responsible for lost or damaged items, including ALL electronics.
Sunscreen: Please provide a bottle of sunscreen with your child’s name on it. The children are responsible for applying their own sunscreen; however we will remind all children daily to reapply sunscreen as needed.
Camp T-shirts: All of the children will be given a camp T-shirt and camp bag when they begin camp. Your child will need to wear the camp T-shirt on Fridays. These matching T-shirts provide easy identification of our group while in public places throughout the summer.
Medication Administration: Whenever your child is to be given prescription medicine the parents must provide the Director a completed Medication Authorization Form. The form can be obtained from the main office. The medication must be provided in the original container. Children may not carry their own medication.
Head Lice: Leon County School has a NO-NIT POLICY # 4.101
If a child is suspected of having head lice and/or nits he/she shall be isolated and the child's parent/legal guardian shall be notified. If your child is found to have head lice, he/she will be rechecked the next day and may return to camp once they have been cleared. There will be no refunds, transfers, or credits for days missed.
Insurance: The Roberts Elementary Summer Camp does not carry accident insurance on participants. It is the parent’s responsibility to carry adequate accident insurance. Such a policy is available through Leon County Schools. Check with the main office for an application.
