What can my child bring to drink with their snack?
Water only. A small, disposable bottle of water, please.
How/when can I volunteer at SJV?
There will be opportunities to volunteer at school, at recess,
the auction, and parents that
are fingerprinted will be eligible to be chaperones on field
trips. We always need helpers in the lunchroom and on the
playground. Please let us know if you are willing to help out
cutting or doing projects at home.
What is the best way to communicate with my child's teacher?
Email. I check email every morning and each day before I go
home. My email
address is www.thompsonl@sjvs.org.
I am also available by telephone at 407-855-4660 ext 256
What parenting books do you recommend?
Teen-Proofing by John Rosemond.
How To Really Love Your Teenager by Ross Campbell, MD
What is the best time for my child to arrive at school?
It is ideal that your child arrive to school between 7:30am and
7:40am. There are many morning routines that are best
accomplished in a calm, thoughtful way. Also, there is morning
work that is waiting for the student to complete upon their
arrival into class.
How long should homework take?
Homework should take approximately 45-60 minutes each day. If
your child is struggling with a concept, it may take longer. If
your child is consistently taking more than 60 minutes to do
homework, please let me know and we can work together to see what
alternatives there may be.
