Discipline Plan

Discipline Plan
“How To Make Our Classroom A Happy Place
To Learn, Work, and Grow"
Dear Parents,
In order to guarantee your child, and all of the students in our
classroom, an excellent learning climate, certain rules must be in place. I
believe discipline is a learning process. Children must be taught to take
the responsibility for their behaviors. They must understand that natural
and logical consequences will follow any misbehavior.
On the first day of school we will discuss what makes a classroom a
positive learning climate. The students will then work in groups to develop
our classroom rules. We will then vote on the rules and finalize them. The
children will sign the rules poster to show that they are in agreement that
they must follow the set rules in order to provide a positive learning
climate.
We will utilize a “sign in” book to help the students follow the
rules. Each student will have a page in the sign in book. Each time that
they break a classroom rule they will sign in on their page of the book and
write a brief sentence on how they could improve that particular behavior.

The consequences are as follows:

First Offence: Verbal Warning
Second Offence: Sign in, loose ten minutes of recess.
Third Offence: Sign in, loose entire recess.
Fourth Offence: Sign in, student is sent to the office to speak with the
principal about their behavior.

The students that do not sign in for the entire week will get to
bring their lunch out to the playground on Fridays and have a picnic lunch
with their teacher.

We will also have an “Angel of the Day” program. If a child
is “caught” going out of their way to do a nice thing for our school
community they will earn an “Angel of the Day Award”.

Thank your for your help and support in this discipline policy. My
hope is that your child will leave fourth grade with new found knowledge,
stronger academic skills, and personal skills which make him or her more
responsible and self-disciplined person.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Cox
