Welcome to Mrs. Cox’s Fourth Grade Class:

Dear Parent(s),
Welcome to a new school year! I am very excited to start a year of learning. I am
looking forward to seeing tremendous growth in your child. This school year we will explore
Florida history, prepare a science fair project, read many wonderful books, and write many
spectacular stories. I would like to give you a general overview of the procedures, policies,
and basic information that will apply to your child this school year.

School Mass:
Our school will attend weekly Mass on Friday at 9:00. Parents are welcome to attend.

Special Area Class:
Please note the schedule on the reverse side of this paper. The children will have P.E.
every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of every other week. Our first P.E. class will begin on the
first day of school. Because we have P.E. first thing in the morning please make sure that your
child comes to school in their P.E. uniform on P.E. days and we will change into our school
uniform after P.E. Please write your child’s name on ALL ARITCALS OF SCHOOL CLOTHING (shirts,
shorts, jackets, etc.) This will alleviate any misplacement of uniforms.

Written Communication:
If you ever have any questions or concerns please write me a note or email me and I will
address the situation as soon as possible. Please do not escort your child to the classroom in
the morning. Doing this prohibits me from giving each student the attention they need and
disrupts our morning procedures.

Birthdays:
Birthdays are a marvelous occasion in a child’s life. The faculty and staff of Saint
Thomas Aquinas School would like to help your child celebrate their special day. Students are
to “dress up” the first Wednesday of their birth month. Please note the explanation of “dress
up” in your student handbook. The children may bring in individual treats on their birthday
(such as cookies, cupcakes, or popsicles to name a few) as well as an individually packed drinks
for the children in our class (we have 23 students in our class). Please do not send in gift
bags.

Classroom Web Site:
Please utilize our classroom web site. It contains links for parents and children,
homework, classroom calendar, and many other types of useful information that pertains to our
class.
