Volunteer Opportunities

As you know, Suncoast Academy requires parents to complete twenty hours of volunteer work each year.  Those volunteer hours are so incredibly helpful to our school.  Our philosophy states that when families of all backgrounds are engaged in their children’s learning, their children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and pursue higher education. Our goal for Suncoast Academy is for the school, the family and the community to partner together for a better environment for education. This supportive partnership provides an educational benefit to the students of Suncoast Academy.

I have plenty of volunteer work for any parents that would like to gain some volunteer hours.  During the first week of school, I have each parent fill out a volunteer form that asks how they would like to volunteer throughout the year.  Some places to volunteer at our school are in the classroom, in the cafeteria, during Specials (Art, Music, P.E.), in the computer lab, in the library, and in the teacher workroom.  In the classroom, I really enjoy having parents work in small groups and one-on-one with the students to help them in different academic areas.  Sometimes I need parent volunteers to help get arts and craft activities ready for my students.  When going on field trips, it is very beneficial to have parent chaperones who want to volunteer.  School wide events like Fall Festival and Science Fair Night are other times when parents are always needed.  Parents can also volunteer their time at home by helping the teacher prepare for classroom activities. Please send in a note with your child or email me when you would like to volunteer.  Thanks for all your help!
