All About Mrs. Taulbee
My name is Mrs. Taulbee. I was born in Sarasota, Florida and have lived in the area ever since. (Who would want to leave this beautiful weather?) I graduated from the University of South Florida with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I have been married for three years to my wonderful husband. Mr. Taulbee is a police officer for the City of Bradenton. We do not have any children yet, but we do have a five year old Siberian Husky named Rocco! The majority of my exercise includes Rocco; he really enjoys going for walks!! Mr. Taulbee and I love to travel together. Disney World is one of our favorite places to visit. We went sightseeing in the Western Caribbean last year. Our newest destination we want to explore is Europe! Going boating, playing tennis, reading, and cooking are just a few of my favorite hobbies.
This will be my third year teaching fourth grade at Sarasota Suncoast Academy. Fourth grade is a wonderful grade to teach. Throughout the year, the students continue to deepen their knowledge of all the different subject areas. They also continue expanding on the writing process. My motto is to, "Make learning fun whenever I can." When studying education, I became very interested in all the different ways children learn. I try my best to adapt my lessons to fit each child's learning style. When teaching, I apply the concepts the students are learning to real life situations. Students tend to enjoy the learning process much more, when they understand what they’re learning is an essential part of life! I love to read and encourage the students to develop a love for reading as well. I read to the students a lot throughout the year as a modeling strategy and as a way to build community in our classroom. Throughout the year, it is important that the students not only grow academically, but socially as well. Our daily lessons are centered around teaching the students a variety of social skills that they will carry with them for many years to come. I am very excited and privileged to be part of the Suncoast Community!
Mission
The mission for Suncoast Academy is to integrate excellence in education, with highly motivated and qualified teachers, deeply concerned and involved parents and a supportive community; which will provide students a superior learning opportunity while developing and reinforcing a strong value system and a healthy work ethic that affords children the tools needed to succeed and contribute in the 21st century.
Philosophy
Research has shown that when families of all backgrounds are engaged in their children’s learning, their children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and pursue higher education. Our goal for Suncoast Academy is for the school, the family and the community to partner together for a better environment for education. This supportive partnership provides an educational benefit to the students of Suncoast Academy.
Suncoast Academy will provide training for teachers and administration in Responsive Education. This method has been proved to increase success in the classroom. Responsive Classroom is not a Social Skills or Character Education program that is an add-on nor is it just another curriculum. Responsive Education is an approach to teaching and learning that integrates academic and social learning throughout the entire curriculum. Through a contractual arrangement with The Northeast Foundation for Children, our staff receives specialized training in the Responsive Educational approach to teaching.
