Homework

Please check the homework section weekly for updates on assignments and/or projects that will need to be completed at home.  Weekly homework will go home every Friday and need to be returned the following Friday morning.  I prefer weekly homework over nightly because it gives the students a chance to manage their time.  Students will need to decide when the best time throughout the week will be to complete their work.  I know everyone has busy schedules with extracurricular activities, so this will hopefully make your week easier.

Weekly Work:

  • Reading:  Read 20 minutes, 5 times this week.  Fill out the reading logs as you finish your books.  Be sure that your reading summaries have complete sentences and correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.  Your handwriting should be easy to read.  If you need more writing space, please use the backside.  Many students did a fabulous job with this last week.  I’m excited to hear what you are reading about at home!  J
  • Vocabulary Words:  Practice your weekly vocabulary words and complete the attached page.
  • Spelling Words: Continue practicing the 5 focus words and your individualized spelling words.  You will be taking your spelling test on Monday, October 5th.  Any words spelled incorrectly will be added to your spelling list.  Remember, vocabulary words are bonus on the spelling test.  Challenge yourself by learning the spelling of these vocabulary words if you spell most fourth grade words correctly.
  • Multiplication Facts:  Practice Multiplication facts 5-10 minutes each day.  There are some great interactive games on www.multiplication.com.  Click on the “Games” icon and try out ones that seem interesting to you.  “Castle Quests”, “Multiplication Monsters”, and “Bonk a Mole” are neat games.   The site, www.learningplanet.com, has the game “Spacey Math” to help with all basic facts.  Flash cards and holey cards are other great ways to practice your math facts.  J
  • If you do not have internet access, please let me know as soon as possible.
