1. EMPTY backpack and folder daily. Look at all papers. Talk with your child about the work. 2. HAVE YOUR CHILD READ TO YOU for 10 minutes daily. Both you and your child will enjoy the closeness of a good book. This will also prepare the child for formal reading and listening later. 3. REINFORCE skills at home. PRACTICE what is being taught at school! 4. EARLY BEDTIME children this age are still growing. They need a good night’s sleep. 8:00 pm is a good recommended time for a Kindergarten child. 5. EAT a good nutritious breakfast. This truly does give the child a “head” start on the day’s activities. 6. BE ON TIME EACH MORNING. Class begins at 8:15. A gentle beginning to the day prepares the child for learning. 7. SIGN AND RETURN all forms promptly. 8. COMMUNICATION CLEARS CONFUSION. Please send a note regarding concerns or questions. 9. LISTEN TO AND ENJOY YOUR CHILD. 10. GIVE LOTS OF PRAISE AND ENCOURAGEMENT! It creates a happy and secure child.
