animal- a living organism that is distinguished from a plant by the ability 
to move

camouflage- the ability to blend into your surroundings

carnivore- an animal that eats meat

conservation- the effort to protect and preserve animals and resources

diurnal- an animal that sleeps at night and is active during the day

enclosure- the space an animal lives in at the zoo 

endangered- an animal that without man’s involvement will become extinct

enrichment- something given to animals to keep them happy and stimulated

environment- the surrounding in which an animal lives

extinct- a species of animal that is no longer living

habitat- the place where a particular organism or population normally lives

herbivore- an animal that eats plants

nocturnal- an animal that sleeps during the day and is active at night

omnivore- an animal that eats both plants and animals

status- the number of animals in a given species

threatened- an animal that without man’s involvement will become endangered

zoo- a facility that cares for a collection of animals for education public 
display, scientific research and breeding purposes
