Trina Aker holds a B.A. in Psychology and English from Vanderbilt
University. She began teaching six years ago after a 20 year career in
business. She is excited about teaching 8th grade Honors Academy. She
is passionate about learning and about sharing that passion with her
students. She is certified in Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum,
Exceptional Student Education, Gifted Education, and ESOL.
She is also strongly committed to the mission of SLA. She has been involved
with the school since its inception, serving as Parent Council President, as
a teacher, as faculty sponsor for Builders Club, as 8th grade team leader,
and as a volunteer.
Her hobbies include reading, scrapbooking, photography, church work, and
theater/drama. She is married and has two sons and one granddaughter. Her
husband Dave recently retired from Venice Police Department and joined the
staff of SLA as Dean of Students. Nathan, his wife Sarah, and our
granndaughter Sadie recently returned to Florida from St. Louis. Ashton
recently graduated from Venice High School and is a freshman at the Burnett
Honors College at UCF.
