Ms.
Nieblas’ Homework Policy
Welcome to Fifth Grade!! Along with the fun, excitement and energy that comes
with starting a new school year, you will also begin having homework
assignments again. Now that you are in fifth grade, you will have to begin
managing your time and prioritizing your life. You will be getting homework in
most subjects, on most nights. You will usually have Spelling, Reading
and Math every night. Science and Social Studies assignments will also be
given, although they may be projects that are due on a specific date. Below is
my homework policy:
Homework will be given when Ms. Nieblas feels that an assignment needs to be
finished at home and/or an assignment at home will support what we have
learned in class. I will be giving homework every night, so if you decide not
to complete your homework, you will be penalized. (Completed homework means
that all assignments are completed to the best of your abilities!!!)
Homework will be posted on the website; however, changes may be made during
class, so it is important that you write down the homework from the board. Use
the website for backup or for when you are absent. The homework that will be
checked will be the homework given in class.
Projects may be given. Please follow the guidelines provided and treat these
assignments as regular classroom assignments.
What
happens if I don’t do my homework?
You will be expected to complete the homework when it is given. If you don’t,
you will have to pay the consequences.
Every month, Mrs. Nieblas will count the number of homework’s you missed
and/or turned in incomplete.
If you missed 0-2 nights of homework, you will receive praise from Mrs.
Nieblas and the class.
If you missed 3+ nights of homework, you will have to serve a detention on a
Wednesday, after school from 2:00-3:00. NO EXCEPTIONS!
This means that you are allowed to miss two nights of homework every month.
Plan accordingly!! If you know that you have an event, party, birthday, etc.
and you will not get to do your homework, then make sure you do your homework
all the other nights. I know that circumstances happen and you may not be able
to complete an assignment. If this happens, you must have a parent note turned
in the day that the assignment is due. It will not be taken after!!!
Circumstances happen once in awhile, not once a week or three times a month.
Please remember that it is your responsibility to complete the homework, not
your parents’, so please do not abuse this opportunity, as I will not accept
it.
