Current Events

Current Events-DUE each Friday

1.	For your assigned country, you will bi-weekly be responsible to read
a current event about your country and turn in a written summary of and
reflection about the article. (Girls one week;boys the next)An article may
come from a newspaper clipping, a magazine clipping, or an internet source.
The article must be in English and a copy (original clipping, print out from
the internet) must be attached with your written summary and reflection.
2.	For your SUMMARY, you must read the article and then write a 6
sentence summary stating the Who, What, When, Where, How, and Why of the
article. Don’t just list these, but write a good summary stating the main
ideas and facts presented. No opinion is used in a summary unless it was the
article writer’s opinion.
3.	For your REFLECTION, write a 6 sentence paragraph sharing your
thoughts, ideas, reactions, reflections and opinions of what you learned in
the article. For example: Do you agree or disagree with the article? Why or
why not? What did you like? What did you dislike? What would happen if people
tried this in the USA?, etc. There is no set way to reflect and each time
(depending on the article) you may reflect differently to what you have read.
4.	Include your complete heading on your paper and correctly cite the
source you used according to MLA style from Page 121 in your student daily
planner.
5.	PLEASE—Have fun learning about another part of the world that you
would not normally read about!!
