Extra Credit

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENRICHMENT AND EXTRA CREDIT

In order to receive extra credit, students need to write a 2 paragraph response to the event/activity. In the first paragraph, they should describe the event, giving FACTUAL details about what happened, what they saw, etc. In the second paragraph, students need to respond by writing either an AFFECT   RESPONSE (how the experience made you feel and why), a PERCEPTION   RESPONSE (what were the things about the experience that really jumped out at you and why), or an ASSOCIATION   RESPONSE   (what the experience reminded you of and why). The paper can be neatly handwritten or typed. Extra credit points are added to the lowest assessment score during the nine weeks in which they were accumulated.

Another Creative Extra Credit Idea (THANKS, Mrs. Cox!):

Had an idea for extra credit. Would cooking an exotic meal count? The kids and I "traveled" to a country a week this summer and we had the most fun researching and re-creating authentic recipes ... including hunting down odd ingredients. We plan to continue with a "country a month" during school; so when the mood strikes she could write up her experiences and include the recipes, too. (This is a wonderful idea! Bon Appetit!)
