I NEED PARENTS' HELP!

Many students have not yet memorized basic addition and subtraction facts.
Third grade is half over, and this skill is essential. If your child still
needs to learn them, please spend just 15 minutes EVERY day flipping flash
cards. If there was an easier way, I promise I'd tell you, but one-on-one
drill with flashcards is the best. If you need me to buy you some cards,
I'll be happy to do it. DAILY practice is the key.

READING FLUENCY

For your information, at this time of the school year, third graders should
be reading out loud at a rate of 120 words per minute.

******************************************************************************

WE NEED
-animal crackers for hungry kids who come without breakfast or a snack.
-soccer balls, kick balls.
-a pump to keep our basketballs inflated.
-new nets for the basketball goals.

BOX TOPS

Thanks for being so good about sending in box tops; keep 'em coming! Last
year our school earned over $4000.00 from box tops.

KIDS,
if you read this, come whisper in my ear tomorrow, "The three articles are a,
an, and the," and I will give you a treat. Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone else!

BIRTHDAYS

1. You are welcome to send in birthday treats for the class to have at snack
time. Muffins, cookies, or minicupcakes work well. Please do not send in a
whole cake as it takes quite a bit of time to cut it, it's hard to make it
come out even, and we have to mess with plates, forks, etc.

2. Tyndall school policy is that birthday invitations will not be passed out
at school unless there is one for each child (or for all the boys if it's a
boy's party or for all the girls if it's a girls party).
