Personal Background:

I am lucky to have both my parents around, who live now at Century Village
in Pembroke Pines. I am a single-parent of a wonderful, terrific son, who I
love very much, named Adam. He is going into 8th grade this year and had
been at Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks Elementary since Kindergarten. I
have lived and been a member of this community for over 25 years and have
strong loving feelings about our school and community, which has become an
extended part of my family.

School Service and Awards:

I was honored by the City Commission Safety Committee of Miami Beach for
support and co-operation given to the cause of safety, in May of 1985.

In 1988, I was recognized by the Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society
in Education for outstanding service to education.

I have served as an active member of our ESSAC committee at Virginia A Boone
Highland Oaks Elementary for 20 years.

Nominated by my peers, I was awarded Media Specialist of the Year for Dade
County Public Schools in 1990, for outstanding contributions to
International Global Education.

Nominated by parents at Virginia A Boone Highland Oaks Elementary, I was
awarded Teacher of the Year by DCC PTA/PTSA as the “Teacher Who Put the “T”
in PTA”, May 21, 2004.

For many years I had volunteered my services to help 4th grade students at
our school in preparation for the Florida Writes Exam.

I have and will continue to give my time to our students for our “Saturday
School” program in preparation for the FCAT exams.

I have been Grade Level Chairperson many times in the past years.

I was voted "Teacher of the Year" for our school, two years ago.

This year, I will serve as the ESAC chairperson.

Mission For My Class

To instill a love of learning in all the children in my classroom,
emphasize a nurturing environment in which all children become creative
problem solvers, critical thinkers, promoting higher level thinking skills,
logic, deductive reasoning, creativity, creating an atmosphere of self
confidence and self esteem, to become effective communicators, while giving
the children the tools needed to be able to advance in technology in their
future, in our ever changing technological world and create a child that
becomes a life-long learner.
