Your Florida Achieves assignments is on the website under your name. You
should have your username and password. A lot of you did not complete the
previous assignments from December. I am asking you to make every effort to
complete these assignments within the time frame. If you read and complete one
assignment each week, you should be done within the assignments due date.
Remember, we are on CRUNCH TIME!!!! (which is an idiom).
Make sure you work on FCAT Explorer Achieves and FCAT Explorer every week.
These are reading benchmarks/skills will assist you to do your best on the
FCAT.
By now, you should have received your username and password for FCAT Explorer
and Florida-achieves. Your online assignments for Reading for both programs
are ready for you to begin at your convenience. All assignments are due
before the end of this month. Below is a link for the websites.

http://www.dadeschools.net/students/students.htm. Click the Resources tab and
there you will see FCAT Explorer. Click on FCAT Explorer to go to the web
page. Once you there, put in your username and password from the paper that I
gave you in class. You can also access Florida-Achieves by clicking on the
tab from the FCAT Explorer web page to see your assignments.
Take 5-10 minutes to study daily.
Students, remember to read every night. During your 30 minutes of reading,
Read silently for 20 minutes and orally for 10 minutes. The oral reading will
assist you to increase your reading fluency.
Reading Log Check will be at the end of this month. Be sure to have at least
8-10 reading materials on your reading log.
A REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS, it is your responsibility to make sure that you
get any missed assignments from me when you are absent or leave early.

Basically, what I need from you the student-- is your BEST!!! That means you
need to give 100% when you are in class. So, I need you to stay FOCUS! FOCUS!
FOCUS! Together, we will achieve great success this school year. I know you
CAN DO IT!!!
Congratulations to those of you who completed all your Florida Achieves
assignments. Again, for those of you who have made no attempt in completing
these assignments, you have a couple more weeks.
Reading Logs will be checked at the end of April.
Your vocabulary and reading test for "Seal Surfer" is this Friday, March
25th. In addition to your Vocabulary words, make sure you know these FCAT
words: simile, alliteration, personification, text feature, text structure,
and idiom. Look in your notes for meaning and an example of each word. That's
what you need to show on your test.
For the students in my homeroom, only a few of you have turned in your field
trip form along with the money. You have till the end of this month (March)
to bring in your field trip form along with your money. PARENTS, I NEED YOUR
HELP TO SEND FIELD TRIP FORMS ALONG WITH MONIES!!!!
Finally, next week will be a very busy week. Please try to be in school all
week. We will have our final simulation tests before the FCAT. Students
will take Reading Test Tuesday and Wednesday and Math Test Thursday and
Friday.
