Mrs. Nemeth has been teaching in Miami Dade County Public Schools for the
past 27 years. Besides being a classroom teacher, Mrs. Nemeth has served as
a Curriculum Support Specialist in the Division of Mathematics and Science
Education where she has written curriculum and conducted many professional
development in-services for teachers of mathematics and science.
In 1999, she began teaching mathematics at Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks
Elementary (VAB HOE). She is a department chairperson for gifted and
mathematics.
In 2000, Mrs. Nemeth was recognized by the Dade County Council of Teachers
of Mathematics as Miami-Dade County’s Elementary Mathematics Teacher of the
Year. In 2007, Mrs. Nemeth was honored to represent VAB HOE as Teacher of
the Year. She later went on to become one of the Teacher of the Year Region
Finalists. That same year Mrs. Nemeth was presented with the Walmart/Sam’s
Club 2007 Teacher of the Year Award.
On a personal note, my goal as an educator is that my passion for the
teaching and learning of mathematics becomes evident in my classroom
instructional program where all students gain the knowledge that they can
reach their greatest potential!
