Curriculum Outline:
Students will be completing a year-long course on Civics.
The following sub-units will be the curriculum components for this
course:  American Citizenships; Foundations of American Government;
Overview of the United States and its Federal Government; State and
Local Governments; Elections, Parties, and Pressure Groups; The U. S.
Economy; and Global Affairs and U. S. Foreign Policy.

I.	Grading System: Your Civics grade will be based on a point
system. Your grade will be measured through tasks that assess the
goals and objectives found in the Florida State Curriculum for this
course. Grades are posted online through CrossPointe. CrossPointe
can be accessed from home by students and parents to check current
averages, missing assignments, etc., so please check to stay up-to-
date on your academic progress.
   A.	Everyone is to keep a notebook/binder. Keep all your
returned work. Keep everything unless you are told to dispose of
it. Every grading period your notebook/binder will be checked.
   B.	The grades you will see on your papers will be as follows:
     1.	A check “” means the assignment received all points
possible.
     2.	A “C” means you have made an error on your paper and you need
to re-do the assignment and turn it in AGAIN for credit.
     3.	A circled number “” identifies the number of points you have
received.
     4.	A “N/C” means you have received no credit. The grade is FINAL.
   C.	Talking, noise making, communicating, or disturbing other
students during a test or quiz will cause your grade to be lowered 5-
100 points.
   D.	Assessments/Grades will be based on projects, presentations,
test scores, quizzes, worksheets, homework, class work, class
participation, any projects and any extra credit.

II.	When you are absent:
  A.	It is your responsibility to find out what work you missed
while absent, and your responsibility to make it up. You will find
your assignments written on the calendar located in the classroom,
worksheets can be found in the “make up” file. You may also find
homework online on Mrs. Kaiser’s website that can be accessed through
the team website. Please turn in work with ABSENT written on it.
  B.	Homework due the first day of your absence is due the first
day of your return.
  C.	If you are absent the day of a test you will make it up the
first day you are back. If you were out two or more days immediately
before a test we will work out a make up schedule. You will not take
the same test.
  D.	If you miss the day before a test you will take it on the
scheduled day if you return that day. The class will review the day
before a test; if you are absent you will need to review on your own.

III.	Class Expectations:
   A.	Have your supplies in class every day.
   B.	All papers are to be turned in with a heading on them, unless
you are told otherwise. The heading should have your name (first and
last), date and period in the upper right hand corner of your paper,
and the assignment on the top blue line.
   C.	Correct all errors on your paper even if it is not to be
turned in again. Papers need to be corrected for your own use and
will be necessary for the notebook check.

IV.	Discipline Plan: Students are expected to follow all county,
school and team rules. While the consequences are ordered, teachers
and school staff reserve the right to skip steps in situations
involving more severe infringements or repeated infringements.
Under no circumstance are cell phones to be used in the
classroom. If a cell phone is carried it needs to be switched off
and placed in your backpack prior to entering the classroom. Failure
to comply will result in disciplinary action.
