National Junior Honor Society is a service oriented organization which
strives to promote leadership and citizenship skills in it's members (see
NJHS website under "Links" for further information about the national
organization). Membership in NJHS is granted after careful consideration of
applications by our membership committee. This membership is the highest
honor that the school can bestow on a student because it acknowledges
excellence, not just in one activity, but in all. Students are invited to
join NJHS after they have exhibited these standards of excellence:
Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship and Character.
NJHS students are our future community leaders and, as such, are expected to
be positive role models to their peers as well as to others.

COMMUNITY/SCHOOL SERVICE HOURS
Members are required to participate in 20 community/school hours per school

your family for which you are not paid. There will be opportunities during
the school year for students to earn service hours both during and after
school hours. Students should also work on their volunteer hours
independently. All volunteer hours must be documented and need to include
signatures of those who supervised the volunteer work or parents. All
documentation of volunteer hours must be submitted by the last NJHS meeting
of the year. Documentation forms are availble on this website under "NJHS
Forms." Service hours documentation must be handed in by the student in
person either at a meeting or given directly to the advisor. Students have
from the time induction occurs until the last meeting of the year (1 year) to
complete their volunteer hours and turn in documentation. Forms for the 2011-
2012 shcool year are due by the last meeting of the year on May 12, 2012.
MEETING ATTENDANCE
Members are required to attend all meetings. If you are going to miss a
meeting, your parent must notify the advisor in writing in advance. Three
unexcused absences will result in dismissal from NJHS.

NJHS.
