About the School Resource Deputy

I am starting my first year as the School Resource Deputy for Sarasota Middle School.  I have a B.S. degree from Central Connecticut State University, majoring in business and am proficient in the Spanish language.

What is the School Resource Deputy Program?

The S.R.D.* Program is a nationally accepted program involving the placement of a Law Enforcement Officer within the educational setting and the physical school setting. This allows the officer to become involved in a variety of functions:

  1. As a visible, active Law Enforcement figure on campus dealing with any law-related areas.
  2. As a classroom resource for instruction in the following areas: safety programs, bullying, drug awareness/prevention, criminal law, internet safety and various other educational programs.
  3. As an extension of the principal’s office in dealing with a variety of school situations.
  4. As a resource for the students which will enable the students to be associated with a law enforcement figure in the school environment.
  5. As a resource to teachers, parents, and students for conferences regarding problems or questions on an individual basis.
  6. As a counseling resource in areas which may effect the educational environment or be a campus safety related issue.

My priorities are to provide a safe learning and working environment for all students and staff.  I am also very adamant that the students will respect staff and each other.

I will be available to assist in many different matters. I am looking forward to a safe school year.

Respectfully,

Dep.  Jeremy Miner   SRD/SMS   941-361-6464  ext# 60750
