Board of Directors: The board of directors consists of the officers of the PTA, chairpersons of PTA committees, and the school principal. The board of directors carries out the business of the PTA in intervals between association meetings.

Book Fair: The PTA assists the librarians by providing volunteers during the fall and spring book fairs held at the school.

Box Tops: This project allows us to earn extra money for our school. Our families save Box Tops from participating food items. Box Tops are collected from each classroom in November and March.

Business Partners: The PTA committee assists in developing and fostering partnerships with businesses in our community to enrich the lives of our children.

Carnival: The PTA plans and organizes the Spring Carnival to make it a memorable event for our children.

Council Connect: This person acts as a communication link between our Abbotts Hill PTA and the North Fulton Council PTA. This volunteer also helps our PTA complete various PTA award applications.

Directory: PTA Volunteers compile the information for the School Directory and distribute the directory to PTA members.

Each One Teach One: Volunteers help students with reading, writing, and basic mathematical exercises. We encourage all parents to participate in this program by sharing their time to help out our students.

Executive Committee: The executive committee consists of the officers of the PTA and the school principal. The executive committee is responsible for approving chairpersons of committees; approving plans of work of committees; scheduling board and association meetings; approving routine bills within the limits of the budget; and conducting the business of the PTA between board meetings.

Family Portraits: The PTA provides our families an opportunity to have quality family portraits made at a reasonable price through Tanner Photography.

Family Fun Nights: The PTA plans an evening of family fun in the Fall and Spring. The evening includes activities, entertainment, and dinner for the family.

Fifth Grade Week: The PTA coordinates a very special week of activities for 5th grade students during their last week of school at Abbotts Hill.

Grant Writing: PTA representatives meet monthly with a team of teachers and administrators to write grants for the enrichment of our school.

Healthy Habits: A team of parents, staff, teachers, and community work together to promote healthy habits and school wellness for our children.

Helping Hands: This committee organizes service projects and charitable events throughout the school year.

Hospitality: This committee organizes the PTA Welcome Back Luncheon for Teachers and Staff. Also, this committee coordinates light refreshments for the PTA morning meetings and the PTA Officers and Committee Chairperson meeting in the fall.

Legislation and Advocacy: This committee works to educate, teach, and share information to advocate for children.

Marquee: This PTA volunteer works with the Principal and administration to update announcements on the marquee in the front of the school.

Media Center: PTA Volunteers assist the librarian with the shelving of books and other duties in the media center.

Membership: This committee prepares the PTA membership forms and membership campaign for the Abbotts Hill PTA. This committee also gathers the membership information forms then submits dues and information to the Georgia and National PTA.

Mini Grants: This committee is made up of one parent liason per grade level as well as PTA representatives. This committee meets in late fall/early winter to work together in order to grant requests of grade level or department expenses. The PTA grants a specific amount every year to be spent by the teachers and staff through this committee.

Newsletter: One PTA volunteer works with the administration to create the bi-weekly Abbotts Hill Elementary newsletter.

Original Works: The PTA assists the Art Department by providing volunteers to process, tally, and distribute order forms and Original Works orders.

PALS (Parent Assisted Learning Services): PTA volunteers make photocopies and die cuts for teachers and the PTA committees.

Publicity: The PTA prepares press releases and pictures of PTA events for the local paper.

Reflections: This is a yearly PTA program that focuses on bringing out the students' artistic talents interpreted in various ways (visual, photography, literary, musical, video, dancing). This year's theme is "Wow". The students compete in different stages at local, state, and national levels. All children are invited to participate and are eligible to win scholarships from the National PTA Council.

Room Parent Coordinator: This position organizes the room parents for each class and provides guidance on how they will help out in the classroom throughout the school year. The coordinator sends out notices to room parents on upcoming class events/parties and generally is the liaison between the PTA, the Principal, and the parents of the children in his or her class.

School Supplies: This committee coordinates with the vendor to provide the student's supplies to our school. The volunteers gather the orders from the parents before the school year ends.

Spirit Wear: The Spirit Wear Team orders and sells school spirit wear (Abbotts Hill clothing and various other items) throughout the year at PTA functions.

Staff Appreciation: This committee coordinates and organizes special surprises and treats for the staff especially during Staff Appreciation Week in March.

Vision/Hearing Screening: The PTA provides volunteers to screen the children for hearing and vision testing.

Volunteer Committee: This committee is responsible for communicating volunteer opportunities. Parents complete a form to sign up to volunteer for various committees. The Volunteer Coordinator creates a list of volunteers for each committee based on information supplied on the forms.

Website Master: A PTA volunteer is responsible for maintaining and updating the PTA website.

Yearbook: The PTA is responsible for creating the yearbook. This task includes taking and collecting pictures for the yearbook, creating the pages, proofreading, and distributing yearbooks at the end of the year. Yearbooks may be ordered online at www.myyear.com.
