Adequate Yearly Progress, or AYP, is how public schools in Georgia are graded
each year. They take into account performance on the Criterion Referenced
Competency Test, or CRCT, which is administrered every year to students in
the 1st through 5th grades. On the CRCT, they look at the performance of
students in Reading, Language Arts and Math as well as the participation rate
which must be greater than or equal to 95%. The attendance rate of students
is also considered. For a school to pass this section, no more than 15% of
students can miss more than 15 days.
