Accelerated Reader Program (AR)

The AR goal for this grading period is 12 points and an average of 85% accuracy on each AR test. Please encourage your child to read his or her AR book nightly. It is your child responsibility to check-out, read, and complete his or her AR book as well as complete a summary on what she or he has read. Summary provides your child the opportunity to reflect on what she or he has read as well as a way of increasing his or her comprehension level. Your child should earn a minimal of ONEand a HALF to TWO AR points a week. This means that your child must read enough picture books or chapter books to earn a minimal of one point a week. These books should be read nightly as part of his or her 30 minutes reading assignment. Over the weekend, your child should complete at least 1/3 of his reading. During the week, she or he will have to complete 2/3. When your child is ready to take an AR test, she or he is required to sign up each morning.

AR CELEBRATION

Students who have met their AR goals of 12 or more points with 85% or higher average will have the pleasure of attending  an AR celebration and the AR store. The AR celebration will be held in the classroom. The AR store will be sponsored by the PTA as a schoolwide AR celebration.
