Jimmy Mauney is the Director of Bands at Bowdon High School and Bowdon
Elementary School. This is his 24th year of teaching.
Mr. Mauney is a 1981 graduate of Lithia Springs High School in Douglas
County.
He attended the University of Georgia and West Georgia College. He holds a
B.M. in Music Education with majors in saxophone and voice. Mr. Mauney also
has been awarded a performance citation from the State Conservatory in
Munich, Germany. He has held teaching positions in Stewart County, Taylor
County, Upson County, and Carroll County.
Mr. Mauney has served as an adjudicator at numerous marching band and solo
ensemble events in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina.
Mr. Mauney has had professional performances with several recording artist
including: Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, K.C and the Sunshine Band, The
Temptations, Buddy Rich, Bob Hope, The Bangles, Kool and the Gang, Robert
Shaw Chorale, and the Columbus, Georgia Symphony. He is a member of the
Georgia Music Educators Association ,M.E.N.C, North American Saxophone
Alliance, and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.
Mr. Mauney and his wife Gina are proud residents of Bowdon, Georgia.
