Mathematics:
We have finished our unit on fractions, and began our study on geometry and
measurement. There should be homework on a daily basis. Please review with
your child.
Social Studies:
Reading: We have begun our studies of non fiction text. The reading
strategy we will be working on is determining importance. We also will be
learning how to write an expository writing piece.
~Informational Pamplet: The students are to create a tri-fold pamplet about
an informational topic of their choosing. The front cover should have the
name of what they are writing about, a picture to go along with the topic,
and a sentence that will catch the reader's eye. The inside should have
information about the place, person, animal, event, etc. All 4 folds on the
inside should have information and pictures that are factual and go along
with the topic. The back of the pamplet should have a photo, a resource in
which information about this topic may be found, the name of the student, and
the publish/due date. This assignment is due on Tuesday, February, 23, 2010.
the pamplet should be colorful and attractive to the eye. It can be hand
written or typed. Pictures alos may be hand drawn or computer generated.
Spelling: This week's words have been assigned - sort 20 - homework should
be coming home daily for spelling.
Grammar/Writing: We are currently working on pronouns in our grammar
workbook. We should be testing Thursday of this week, over pronouns,
prepositions, conjuctions, and interjections.
I enjoyed meeting with during conferences. Progress reports for this grading
period will be coming home in the Friday Folder.
