Should the agenda be signed each night?
Yes, a parent signature or initials is needed. This lets the teacher know
that you know what we worked on in class and what the homework is each day.
The students are to write all of this in their agenda.
Should I send a written note about the change of transportation for my child?
Yes, it is school policy that if a child is going home differently than their
normal routine, a note should be sent in the morning.
If I forget to send a note, may I email the teacher or send a fax?
No, a note must come in with the child with your instructions and your
signature. It is for the safety of the child!
May I pick my child up from the classroom door?
No, children must be signed out in the front office.
Should I force my child to complete homework they don't understand?
No, please write a note in the agenda to the teacher about the problem.
What is morning work?
In my class, morning work consists of 2 oral language sentences, 2 geography
questions, and one word of the day. Students are given time in the morning
to complete them. Later in the day we check them together. The correct
answers are written on the overhead for them to correct their papers. If
students are absent, copies of the corrections are provided for them. There
is a morning work quiz each Friday.
What is Scholastic News?
Scholastic News is a kid's magazine that I use in my class to build
comprehension skills. It also provides students with current events. There
is a comprehension quiz with each magazine.
