What if my child is taking hours to complete their work?
It should not take longer than 40 minutes to complete nightly assignments.
Most work is started in class. If it is taking hours to complete have
him/her stop and put it up. Write a note to explain what happened.
If my child is absent, when should I pick up missed assignments?
If your child misses one day, please let him/her rest. Any missed
assignments
will be placed on his/her desk. If your child misses 2 or more days, you may
pick them up at the office (during the school day) or in the classroom
(after
school) Students will be given plenty of time to make up the assignments.
Please email before coming to pick up assignments during the day so I may
have them ready at the office. Always send a note about the absence when
your
child returns. The office needs this for their records.
How long should I keep my child out if he/she is sick?
Our school rule requires students who have had fever be fever-free for 24
hours. Just think how YOU would feel if your child got sick from a student
who came back too early. If your child gets up feeling awful and vomits,
please keep him/her at home that day. It's not fair to send him/her feeling
bad.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
YES, and please do!
How can I celebrate my child's birthday?
You may send in any snack to be shared during lunch. I do beg that you try
to send in items that share easily such as cupcakes, brownies, cookies,
popsickles, individual ice creams, etc. Feel free to be creative!
How can I reach you?
Email is the best because I check it before leaving school. Next best- leave
a phone message in the office and I'll return your call ASAP.
When will I see my child's work?
I send home a folder with work in it every Friday. Please sign and return
the folder on Monday. If the folder is not signed and returned your child
will have to sit out during recess until the folder is returned.
